About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Specialist – SSN AUKUS to join ASC’s People & Culture team. Reporting to the Industrial Relations Lead, this pivotal role provides high-level strategic advice and support on complex IR matters, including legislation, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements. You will play a key role in shaping ASC’s long-term IR strategy, supporting enterprise bargaining, and engaging with unions in a highly dynamic and strategic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing ASC’s Industrial Relations strategy and supporting enterprise bargaining initiatives.
  • Contribute to the preparation and negotiation of Enterprise Agreements, including drafting content and supporting documentation.
  • Undertake research and analysis to inform bargaining positions and strategic decision-making.
  • Engage directly with unions and workplace delegates through consultation and negotiation.
  • Provide expert advice to managers and operational leaders on IR matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and agreements.
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, and communication plans for internal stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Support investigations into employee grievances, disputes, and other workplace matters, ensuring timely and compliant resolution.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in industrial and employee relations within a complex, unionised environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), National Employment Standards, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Proven success in enterprise bargaining and union engagement, including negotiation and implementation of agreements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate sensitive and complex issues.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and coach leaders.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail in all aspects of IR management.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance up to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
