ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. Join us in a pivotal role as we establish the Australian Shipbuilder, a joint venture between ASC and BAE, which will eventually construct Australia’s SSN-AUKUS submarines. As the Technology Controls & Information Management Officer, you will collaborate with the entire business to achieve company objectives in a compliant manner. Your focus will be on developing strategies to identify and mitigate risks associated with information sharing, technology control, and security frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all technology control and information management regulations, and manage technology licenses and agreements.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and provide expert advice on export controls.
  • Collaborate with executives and staff across the organization under the direction of the Head of Business Enablement and Information Mobilisation Manager.
  • Operate in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environment, balancing structure, discipline, and flexibility to meet strategic needs.
  • Maintain and apply technology control principles, guidelines, and direction in programs, projects, and business as usual.
  • Engage with stakeholders to scope and implement projects that mature information management practices in the build program.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of information management policies and processes.
  • Manage information systems to ensure data integrity and security.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or discipline is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1) and full access to all Intellectual Property and Controlled Technology held by ASC is required.
  • Minimum of 3 year’s experience in managing information, export control, security, project management, or a similar role involving risk/compliance obligations, ideally within a Defence industry organisation.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written language skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and responsiveness.
  • Experience in information management, including data governance, security, and compliance.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
