About the Opportunity

The Lead/Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the Collins Class Submarine Life of Type Extension (LOTE) program, as a member of the team responsible for integrating the Replacement Diesel Generator and Impacted Systems Projects into the Submarine.

This role is a permanent full time opportunity, based from Osborne.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake engineering assessments, documented through formal Engineering Reports
  • Assess and treat technical risks within a Defence Technical Seaworthiness framework
  • Participate in the technical review of Vendor Furnished Information
  • Verification of System Requirements
  • Support the generation and review of Detailed Design Drawings

About you

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar satisfying that satisfy membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent) at MIEAust level
  • Experience with Submarine Power Generation, Auxiliary and Safety Systems
  • Experience applying Australian and International standards
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering
  • You possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • You can set appropriate priorities and work standards, managing multiple parallel tasks with high personal organization

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
