An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.  

Placements are available in April 2026 and will be between 24 - 36 months in duration. 

 

Responsibilities 

In the role of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Examiner, your responsibilities are:

  • Conduct non-destructive testing methods including Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Visual Testing (VT).
  • Develop and maintain procedures relevant to Non- Destructive Testing.
  • Examine materials for corrosion, defects and structural issues.
  • Perform and verify calibration and safety checks on test equipment before and after inspections.
  • Record test results and data for detailed inspection reports.
  • Provides technical authority, supervision and maintenance of certification to Level I and II Examiners.

 

 Eligibility Criteria 

The successful applicant must possess:  

  • Australian Citizenship.
  • Ability to relocate to Hawaii, US and then to Perth, WA upon completion of deployment.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in NDT, welding inspection, or QA environments
  • Current AINDT Level 2 NDT certification 
  • Experienced in Magnetic Testing, Visual Testing and Penetrant Testing
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret codes and standards.

 

 Additional Details 

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.  

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.

Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
