ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

Join our team in Henderson, WA, supporting the Nuclear-powered Submarine sustainment program (SSNS), a critical part of Australia’s future defence capability. You will be the central point of contact for all EVM and project cost and schedule-related queries, reporting to the Project Controls Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate cost and schedule data in line with AS4817-2006/2019 and Defence Supplement requirements.
  • Gather and combine key project information; budgets, actual costs, progress, and forecasts, from systems like the corporate scheduling tool, project ledger, and ERP into ASC’s EVM tool.
  • Provide clear, timely insights to help project managers understand performance and make informed decisions.
  • Look for opportunities to improve cost efficiency and support ASC’s value-for-money goals.
  • Build a strong understanding of ASC’s business systems and data flows across ERP, Contract Management, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, and Finance to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Commerce/Economics, Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) within a Project Controls team or project management environment.
  • Exposure to defence, shipbuilding, sustainment, or other highly regulated, process-driven industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communicator, confident working with project managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Resilient and adaptable, comfortable navigating compliance-heavy processes.
  • Inquisitive and solution-focused, approaching challenges with problem-solving rather than roadblocks.
  • Understands the importance of maintaining program momentum and is motivated to prove themselves within a vitally important program for ASC and Australia’s defence capability.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
