Have you always wanted to work overseas? Are you looking to expand your career with the opportunity to receive world-class training?

An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled quality control professionals to undertake short-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to further your career and professional capabilities through collaborations and upskilling with world-leading industry partners.

Placements are available in September 2026 and will be approximately 7-months in duration.

Please note: this deployment will need to be undertaken on a solo basis.

Responsibilities

As a Quality Assurance Auditor – Production, you will:

  • Deliver independent quality audits and surveillance across sustainment and production activities to confirm compliance with approved processes, technical requirements, and regulatory obligations

  • Conduct planned and ad hoc audits within shipyard production shops and shipboard environments while operating effectively alongside active operations

  • Perform R-Entry Control (REC) packages and SUBSAFE‑related surveillances, verifying adherence to technical specifications and boundary requirements

  • Assess external vendors and subcontractors on‑site, confirming process and quality compliance against contractual expectations

  • Review objective quality evidence, non‑conformances, and audit findings, producing clear, evidence‑based reports and corrective action recommendations

  • Analyse quality data and audit trends to identify recurring or systemic issues and support continuous improvement initiatives

Eligibility Criteria

The successful applicant must possess:

  • Qualification aligned to QA / auditing discipline (e.g. Certificate IV in Quality Auditing or equivalent demonstrated experience)

  • 5+ years' experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Auditing, or Compliance

  • Internal or lead auditor accreditation (advantageous)

  • Australian Citizenship

  • An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance

Additional Details

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling.

Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.

Due to the shorter duration of the overseas training, family relocation support is not available, and deployment will need to be undertaken on a solo basis.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.

Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.

We’re here to support you prior to deployment and when you are overseas. As an ASC employee working overseas, you will have access to a host of great benefits:

  • Be paid to work, train, and live in the United States

  • Work on world-class nuclear-powered submarines and learn cutting-edge nuclear technology

  • Have access to benefits and entitlements to support relocation and your time living and working overseas (such as cost-of-living allowances and housing assistance)
