About the Opportunity

Based in South Australia, this role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering Sub Sustainment Nuclear (SSN) AUKUS Program Build, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. The Security Advisor will ensure the effective and compliant operation, implementation, administration, rectification, coordination, and management of all security processes, systems, and measures for ASC’s main and satellite sites.

Responsibilities

  • Review, rectify, and reinforce security measures; maintain compliant access control and security alarm systems.
  • Provide expert guidance on security technology and ASIO Tech Note requirements.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and manage security threats.
  • Prepare and present security training and awareness sessions.
  • Develop reports, policies, procedures, and practices in coherence with ASC and Commonwealth security requirements.
  • Conduct enquiries and report on security incidents within Defence mandated timeframes.
  • Engage with various security agencies to assist personnel with local and international security matters.

About You

  • Qualification in Security and/or Risk Management or directly related field.
  • Proven background in a similar role with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in compliance, assurance, and governance frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of Physical, Personnel, Governance, and Information security in relation to DISP and/or Defence.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity and resilience.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
