ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a tech-savvy problem solver who loves Linux and thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. As our Senior Linux Administrator, you’ll be the go-to expert for all things Linux, keeping our systems secure, stable, and humming along smoothly. You’ll play a key role in shaping our infrastructure strategy and strengthening our cybersecurity posture. We anticipate commencement of this role in early 2026.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain ASC’s enterprise Linux environment.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable server solutions.
  • Monitor performance and resolve incidents quickly and effectively.
  • Lead logging and alerting improvements to boost visibility and response.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with IT and transformation teams to support service delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation across Linux operations.

 

About you

You’re a confident Linux expert with a curious mind and a can-do attitude. You love solving complex problems and making systems better. You’re a great communicator, a team player, and someone who thrives on change.

You’ll bring:

  • 7-10 years’ experience managing Linux systems in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security and incident response.
  • Experience mentoring others and sharing knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks like PSPF, ISO 20001 or NIST.
  • Bonus: cloud experience and Windows Server knowledge.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV2). Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
