About the Opportunity

To meet ASC program objectives, we are expanding the apprentice training programs to provide sufficient appropriately skilled and competent trades. The Senior Technical Trainer will be responsible to ensure ASC’s multi-discipline trade teams schedule and deliver apprentice programs to provide these trades on an ongoing basis.

Reporting to the Technical Training Manager, the Senior Technical Trainer plays a pivotal role to ensure the success of the Apprentice Training Program for all trade disciplines. The role is responsible for the execution and ongoing monitoring of the apprentice programs for all trade disciplines.

The Senior Technical Trainer will work closely with the Trade Managers, Superintendents and Team Leads to ensure adherence to the training program schedule and continued progression of apprentices.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of training specialists through coaching, performance management and ongoing support.
  • Respond to the increase of technical skill demands and develop a sustainable and improved Apprenticeship, Early Career Program and Technical Bridging program.
  • Maintain apprentice competency records via the appropriate corporate process.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the training meets ASC’s requirements. 
  • Manage the trade training timetables and apprentice rotations to reduce risk to the CCSM program to deliver on the required training outcomes of the business whilst ensuring supervision ratios are met.
  • Manage budget for training requirements and consumables.
  • There may also be a requirement to deliver a small amount of generalist training.

 

About you 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant Trade certification.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an operational leadership role (preferably within the Defence Industry or RTO/TAFE).
  • Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant trade experience.
  • Developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of WHSE policies and procedures.
  • Proven demonstrated ability to manage people, WHSE, quality systems and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the Vocational Education and Training Sector.

REQUIRED BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

  • As a member of the Technical Training leadership team, the Senior Technical Trainer is required to work across the various trade disciplines and build relationships.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
