About the Opportunity 

We’re looking for a dynamic Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and reporting of our diverse project portfolio in the Innovation, Science & Technology Program.  
 
Working closely with the Innovation, Science & Technology Project Manager and a collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of innovation across the organisation. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Support the delivery of innovation, science and technology initiatives from concept through to implementation and handover. 
  • Assist in the development of project plans, roadmaps and business cases that support emerging technologies and strategic innovation priorities. 
  • Monitor project progress, schedules, budgets, risks and outcomes to ensure successful delivery and value for investment. 
  • Evaluate innovation opportunities and support feasibility assessments, business case development and project prioritisation activities. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, industry, academia and government. 
  • Prepare project reports, presentations and governance documentation to support effective decision-making. 
  • Contribute to project governance, frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery and innovation capability. 
  • Support portfolio management activities, ensuring projects remain aligned with business objectives and strategic priorities. 
  • Provide day-to-day project coordination and support to the broader Innovation & Improvement team. 

 

About you  

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. 

  • 2-3 years' experience in a Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, Project Support or similar role. 

  • Experience supporting project planning, scheduling, reporting, governance and risk management activities. 

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. 

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple project activities simultaneously. 

  • Experience preparing project documentation, presentations, reports and project updates for stakeholders. 

  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using project management or reporting tools. 

  • A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement and problem-solving. 

 

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
