About the opportunity:

ASC is seeking experienced Nuclear Safety Engineers to support the early establishment of nuclear safety, security and safeguards for the SSN‑AUKUS sustainment program.

Working within the Nuclear team, you will play a key role in shaping nuclear arrangements, influencing design assurance, and supporting licensing and regulatory activities across shipyard facilities and operations.

Appointments may be made at Specialist, Senior or Principal level depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist nuclear safety, security and safeguards advice
  • Support safety case development, safety assessments and design assurance
  • Contribute to licensing, regulatory and compliance frameworks
  • Review and challenge nuclear‑implicated systems, processes and artefacts
  • Support development of nuclear governance, emergency response and operational controls
  • Promote nuclear safety culture and mindset across the program

About you:

You are a technically strong engineer who thrives in complex, evolving environments and is motivated by work of national significance.

You will bring:

  • Engineering degree (or related technical discipline)
  • Experience in nuclear or radiological safety
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills
  • A disciplined, safety‑focused mindset

Highly regarded:

  • Experience with nuclear facilities, naval nuclear shipyards or submarine propulsion systems
  • Experience working with nuclear regulators
  • Additional nuclear‑related qualifications

Eligibility:

  • Ability to maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to access protected US defence technology
  • National Police Check required
