About the Opportunity

Reporting to the ASC Capital Works Manager, you will project manage capital procurement and engineering projects from concept through to completion. The projects are critical to improving the efficiency and sustainability of facilities and infrastructure in support of the submarine business. You will assist the maintenance team with general technical advice on maintenance engineering issues and problem solving breakdowns when required.

Responsibilities

  • Through design principles, develop scopes of work and technical specifications for upgrade and improvement projects.
  • Review quotes and tenders from suppliers
  • Manage delivery by sub-contractors
  • Perform contractor site inductions, permits to work and ensure contractor conformance to ASC OHS policies and external legislative requirements
  • Support the Facilities Department in regards to the daily activities of site facilities management
  • Ensure compliance with any reasonable instruction that is given to you by the Capital Works Manager

About you 

  • Engineering Degree qualifications in a Mechanical or Electrical stream
  • Previous experience working within Facilities
  • Interpret the needs of the organisation through communication with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Work closely with Procurement to support the tender process and contractor selection
  • Be agile and flexible due to changing priorities and unforeseen events
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external resources to achieve department goals
  • Assess and determine ‘best for project’ and ‘best for ASC’ outcomes with consideration of safety, stakeholder requirements, schedule and budget
  • Project manage a range of multi-disciplinary facility upgrade projects ensuring full legislative and safety compliance

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
