About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Trade Trainer to develop and deliver high-quality training for fabrication apprentices and tradespeople. This role plays a vital part in supporting workforce capability through hands-on instruction, assessment, and mentoring in a dynamic and safety-focused environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver approved technical trade training packages to apprentices and tradespeople.
  • Develop and maintain training plans, packages, and supporting documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor training groups and individuals.
  • Draft apprentice progress reports and contribute to skills development evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS&W regulations and maintain a safe training environment.

 

About you 

  • Hold a fabrication trade certification.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment preferable or willingness to obtain.
  • Minimum 10 years of trade experience, ideally in heavy engineering or shipbuilding.
  • Strong skills on general fabrication like bending, forming and shaping of metal.
  • Confident welder, preferably with an AS1796 certificate (1-10).
  • Competent using modern workshop equipment such as CNC Brake press, Guillotine and Mandrel pipe benders. 
  • Experience drafting using programs such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, computer skills and experienced in managing technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and initiative.
  • Effective team player with the ability to motivate and support others.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
