To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available March 2027 and will be approximately 25 Months in duration.

Responsibilities 

As a Fleet Support Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Technician you will:

• Engineering support: Provide engineering support for in-service ships and submarines, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Troubleshooting: Collaborate with ship’s force, maintenance teams, and other engineering codes to resolve emergent technical issues during availabilities and deployments.
• Inspections and Testing: Conduct shipboard inspections, system performance evaluations, and readiness assessments.
• Technical Interface: Interface with NAVSEA, In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs), and other technical authorities to ensure compliance with Navy standards and specifications.
• Technical Records: Maintain detailed technical records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes.

Eligibility Criteria 

The successful applicant must possess: 

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a relevant mechanical qualification
• 5+ years in maintenance, engineering or technical support roles (desirable)
• Experience working within a shipyard, maritime, naval, defence, or defence contracting environment (highly desirable)
• Australian Citizenship
• An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance

Additional Details

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures. 

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling.

Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying. 

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
