ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

The Infrastructure Technical Lead provides technical leadership and specialist advice across a portfolio of infrastructure and facilities projects across Submersible Ship Nuclear (SSN) Sustainment. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will lead the development of functional requirements, support asset management planning, and ensure infrastructure solutions align with business and operational needs.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to define, coordinate, and deliver infrastructure requirements, while supporting the development of asset management plans, service level agreements, and long-term infrastructure strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across infrastructure and facilities projects.
  • Develop, review, and manage functional requirements, technical specifications, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate technical workshops and engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly defined and delivered.
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, changes, issues, and compliance requirements.
  • Support the development of asset management plans, operational concepts, and long-term infrastructure strategies.
  • Review and endorse technical documentation to ensure alignment with governance, quality, and project objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and project updates to support informed decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, process enhancements, and best-practice asset management approaches.

About you

  • Diploma of Engineering (Civil) or related discipline, trade qualification, or equivalent infrastructure/construction experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a technical, infrastructure, construction, or maintenance role.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, risk, and change management.
  • Experience working within asset management, configuration management, or engineering governance environments.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Experience in defence, maritime, shipbuilding, construction, maintenance, or other heavy industry environments.
  • Knowledge of asset lifecycle management and facilities maintenance practices.
  • Experience facilitating technical workshops and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
