About the Opportunity

The Project Manager - International Placements leads the coordination and delivery of workforce placements across AUKUS partner nations, supporting critical capability and knowledge transfer to the Australian Shipbuilder. Responsible for project planning, stakeholder engagement, resource coordination, and performance reporting, this role ensures placements are engaged on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the position plays a key role in developing workforce capability for the SSN AUKUS program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the planning, delivery, and close-out of UK and US international placement programs to achieve project objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, ASA, and external host organisations to ensure successful placement outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain project performance baselines, monitor progress, analyse variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage project risks and opportunities, driving mitigation strategies and maximising benefits realisation.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and supporting placement mobilisation and execution in line with program lifecycle.
  • Oversee knowledge transfer activities, project reporting, and cost management (CAM responsibilities)
  • Management and supervision of assigned Project team members including line management responsibilities.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management (or working towards) or equivalent professional experience is desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a complex project or program environment.
  • Proven experience managing and engaging with international stakeholders, building effective relationships to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills across complex organisational structures.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
  • Highly resilient, customer-focused, and driven to deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
