About the Opportunity

Join the SSN AUKUS Build Program as an Assistant Project Accountant – Cost and Estimating, supporting the development of cost estimates that inform both internal business decisions and Commonwealth deliverables. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to analyse scope, apply estimating techniques, and ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented estimates that support Australia’s most ambitious defence program.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of estimates using appropriate cost estimating techniques
  • Analyse estimates against workscope and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) against pricing requirements
  • Apply financial/commercial factors inline with Commercial terms to calculate pricing, including contingency and risk
  • Use tools such as ProPricer and @Risk to prepare, analyse and develop document pricing versions ensuring accuracy and transparency throughout the estimating process
  • Assist in responding to estimate queries and supporting negotiations with the Commonwealth
  • Analyse cost variances and consolidate data to support estimate development
  • Maintain estimating registers and support administrative tasks
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with business systems

 

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Accounting
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software (e.g. ProPricer)
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Resilience in working with evolving data and priorities
  • Highly motivated and committed to delivering accurate estimating outputs

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
