About the Opportunity

The Estimator role performs an estimating function to support the Multi Class Sustainment activities. You will be responsible for the development of estimates for submission to the Commonwealth or may be used to support internal business decisions. The role requires the development of estimating techniques and the engagement with stakeholders to develop estimates and quotations. They support the improvement of the processes and systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of estimating outputs.

This is a Full-Time, permanent position based in Osborne, SA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct estimate kick-off meetings and establish understanding of estimating principles and scope.
  • Break down work scope using appropriate Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and apply suitable estimating techniques (e.g. historical data, parametric analysis, stakeholder input)
  • Build accurate estimates using tools like ProPricer, capturing relevant conditions and financial/commercial factors to calculate pricing.
  • Identify risk and apply risk software to determine appropriate contingency values
  • Align estimates with contractual requirements and prepare deliverables for Commonwealth submissions.
  • Assist in responding to Commonwealth queries and support negotiations related to submitted estimates.
  • Update estimating registers, approval status reports, and support continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
  • Investigate estimate queries, analyse cost variances, and consolidate data to support decision-making and business cases.

  

About You

  • Tertiary qualification or diploma qualification in an applicable discipline such as Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Project Management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant estimating or relevant experience.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical thinking.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced skills with estimating systems such as ProPricer. (highly desirable)
  • Learning ability to understand complex issues.
  • Effectively communicate complex issues (written/ verbally).
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross functional teams developing strong intra-team and stakeholder relationships.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
