About the Opportunity

As our new Head of Platform Engineering, you’ll lead a department of around 60 engineers across 6 IPTs, with 6 direct reports. You’ll deliver Platform Systems Engineering outcomes that are critical to program success, reporting to the General Manager – LOTE Platform System Design & Engineering. You’ll shape technical strategy, manage delivery, and work directly with our customer to solve complex engineering challenges.

This is a 12-month opportunity with potential to grow, offering real influence across technical and commercial domains.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering operations and initiatives that drive strategic goals and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across departments to share knowledge, improve processes, and manage engineering risks.
  • Define departmental structure, strategy, processes, and future direction aligned with business strategy.
  • Manage recruitment, secondments, and training to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Oversee project estimates, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure delivery readiness.
  • Monitor engineering activities for quality, compliance, and timely delivery aligned with ASC policies.

About you 

  • Qualified in engineering and complex project management, with 8+ years leading large technical programs.
  • Experienced in Naval systems design, sustainment and engineering delivery.
  • Skilled in leading technical teams and shaping engineering organisational models.
  • Strong in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and project recovery.
  • Confident in lifecycle, configuration, safety and engineering governance.
  • Proactive, adaptable and energises teams to deliver high performance.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
