About the Opportunity

The Maintenance Team Lead (MTL) is responsible for safely, effectively, and efficiently conducting, recording, and supervising corrosion related corrective and preventative maintenance on Collins Class Submarines (CCSM). This role ensures compliance with ASC corporate policies and procedures, with the aim of maximising fleet availability and reliability. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee corrosion related maintenance projects across CCSM platforms, ensuring safe execution and procedural compliance.
  • Vet related work packs and manage paint and Emergent Work (EW).
  • Supervise day-to-day operations across work platforms as scheduled by relative Superintendent.
  • Ensure adherence to SPOD and SPOW schedules and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and project support during planning and execution phases to ensure consistency and continuous improvement.
  • Backfill Superintendent during leave or peak workloads.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned from each project.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a safe and positive work culture. 

 

About you 

Essential Qualifications

  • Trade Certificate or relevant experience.
  • NACE Level 1&2 (desirable). 
  • AICIP qualification (desirable). 
  • Confined Space Supervisor Course (desirable).
  • Certificate in Training and Assessment (desirable). 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of Collins Class Submarine systems and CCSM business processes.
  • Full understanding of high-risk work processes and safety compliance (SWMS). 
  • Experience with scheduling and fostering practices that enhance adherence. 
  • Proficiency in ASC corporate databases and MS Office applications. 
  • Paint inspection and field card compliance. 

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
