ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

About the Opportunity

The Planning Systems Specialist plays a key role in supporting ASC's Planning function through the effective management of Planning systems, reporting tools and data processes that underpin submarine sustainment programs. In this varied role, you will troubleshoot issues, improve system performance and develop practical solutions that help Planning teams work more effectively. Combining analytical thinking, business knowledge and systems expertise, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of Planning capabilities while supporting the delivery of accurate and reliable Planning information.

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance Planning systems, tools and processes to help deliver efficient and effective Planning outcomes
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve system issues, defects and user requests in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and performance metrics that provide meaningful business insights
  • Provide technical advice, user training and ongoing support as a Planning Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Partner with Planning teams, program stakeholders and IT support groups to deliver effective technology solutions
  • Support testing, implementation and adoption activities associated with system upgrades and new functionality
  • Identify opportunities to improve system usability, data quality, process efficiency and reporting effectiveness

About you

  • Experience supporting data analysis, reporting, process improvement or business systems within engineering, defence, manufacturing or other complex industrial environments
  • Strong problem-solving and investigative skills, with the ability to analyse issues, identify root causes and develop practical solutions
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, ask the right questions and translate business needs into effective system, data or reporting outcomes
  • High attention to detail with the ability to analyse information, identify trends and maintain accurate, reliable and well-governed data
  • Proven experience developing reports, dashboards and data visualisations using Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, Power Query, reporting and data management techniques
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation
  • A background in Information Technology, Business Systems or a strong interest in technology and digital solutions would be highly regarded
