Principal Project Controls Analyst - SSN AUKUS Build Program

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

ASC is seeking a highly experienced Principal Project Controls Analyst to join our SSN AUKUS Program Management team.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will be the subject matter expert for Earned Value Management (EVM), project controls governance, cost and schedule performance analysis, and forecasting across one of Australia’s most significant Defence programs. You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and alignment of project scope, schedule and cost baselines, while providing the insights and assurance required to support effective decision-making.

As a senior leader within the Project Controls function, you will provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to Project Controls professionals, drive continuous improvement initiatives, support audit and governance activities, and act as deputy to the Project Controls Manager when required.

This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in South Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reporting, analysis and performance measurement activities across the SSN AUKUS Program.
  • Establish, maintain and govern Performance Measurement Baselines (PMB), ensuring alignment between scope, schedule and cost.
  • Analyse project performance using key EVM metrics including CPI, SPI, CV, SV and EAC, providing meaningful insights and forecasting to support decision-making.
  • Provide oversight of schedule integrity and integration between Primavera P6 schedules and Deltek Cobra cost systems.
  • Lead variance analysis activities and partner with Control Account Managers (CAMs) and project stakeholders to develop corrective actions and mitigation strategies.
  • Govern baseline change management processes, ensuring robust change control, auditability and compliance.
  • Drive compliance with AS4817:2019 Earned Value Management guidelines and support internal and external audit and surveillance activities.
  • Develop and enhance project controls processes, procedures, reporting frameworks and system integration practices.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and technical leadership to Project Controls Analysts and Senior Project Controls Analysts.
  • Support governance forums and provide expert project controls advice to program leadership.

This role operates within a complex and highly integrated program environment and requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, Defence customers and international capability partners. A degree of flexibility in working hours may be required to support engagement with overseas stakeholders and partners.
