About the Opportunity

As a Project Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the financial performance of South Australia–based projects and departments. Partnering closely with project and business leaders, you will provide accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis to support effective decision‑making and successful project delivery. This role operates within a complex contract environment and offers exposure to large‑scale, regulated programs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver end‑to‑end project and departmental accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, invoicing, reconciliations and financial analysis
  • Prepare and present accurate monthly financial performance reporting in line with contract requirements, policies and accounting standards
  • Support Estimate at Completion (EAC), annual true‑up processes and contract change proposals
  • Provide financial guidance and education to project teams to drive strong financial management and “right first time” outcomes
  • Manage project‑related Capex, business cases and finance support to bids
  • Monitor financial risks and contribute to risk management and control frameworks
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance systems, controls and reporting efficiency

 

About you 

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Five year’s experience in a similar role, with CA/CPA or equivalent membership.
  • Proven experience in project accounting within a complex, contract‑driven environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain financial data to non‑finance stakeholders
  • Experience delivering accurate financial reporting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards, compliance obligations and internal controls
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes to tight deadlines

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
