As a Senior Governance Engineer, you will help shape the technical governance framework that underpins Australia's conventional and future nuclear-powered submarine programs. Working across engineering, quality, assurance and program teams, you will develop practical governance solutions that strengthen technical integrity, compliance, engineering assurance and risk-informed decision-making.

 

Reporting to the Technical Governance Manager, you'll influence how technical work is governed within one of Australia's most complex and strategically important engineering environments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve ASC's technical governance framework, standards and controls.
  • Translate regulatory, contractual and technical requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Provide expert governance advice that supports safe, compliant and risk-informed engineering.
  • Build trusted relationships and partner with engineering, quality and program teams to embed governance requirements, strengthen technical integrity and drive continuous improvement.

 

About You

 

You are an experienced engineer who combines technical credibility, sound judgement and stakeholder influence with a passion for governance and continuous improvement.

 

You bring:

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in a complex, high-risk and highly regulated environment.
  • Experience developing or improving governance, assurance or engineering management frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical, risk-based solutions.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, accountability and technical excellence.

 

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in defence, naval, submarine, nuclear, aerospace, energy, oil and gas, mining or similar industries.
  • Experience working with technical authority, engineering assurance or regulatory compliance frameworks.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
