About the Opportunity
The Senior or Specialist (Welding) Equipment Engineer will work within the Equipment Team to identify and specify industrial manufacturing equipment and associated welding equipment for the new, fit for purpose Submarine Construction Yard (SCY) at Osborne, South Australia. The role will be responsible for contributing to a holistic equipment list for the major and minor, fixed equipment that will be used at the SCY.
For each of the listed equipment in their area of responsibility, the SCY Senior or Specialist (Welding) Equipment Engineer will create detailed specifications and Statements of Work to support the procurement of the manufacturing equipment and associated welding equipment.
The Equipment Team will be a key stakeholder in supporting the procurement process for equipment selection, supplier qualification, design reviews, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, qualification, training and final acceptance. The role will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the equipment is successfully procured in accordance with the program schedule.

Essential Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
Highly Desirable
• Certified Welding Engineer
Essential Skills and Experience:
• +10yrs experience in metal fabrication industry inclusive of welding equipment and manufacturing equipment procurement and project delivery
• Specific experience in the Defence Shipbuilding Industry preferred.
• Project management experience in equipment procurement, design, manufacturing, installation, and/or commissioning.
• Develop welding and equipment acceptance criteria and qualification processes to validate the functionality of the equipment meets the performance requirements
• Compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Experience in welding codes and standards
• Develop welding test procedures for the verification and validation of requirements throughout the delivery stage of the equipment lifecycle, not limited to design reviews, FAT, SAT and qualification.
• Experience in Non-Destructive Examination processes related to weld quality
•Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian NEGATIVE VETTING Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
• Knowledge of systems engineering and ‘requirements management’ principles.
• Intermediate MS Office skills.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
