About the Opportunity

The Multi Class Services Planning Team is a key capability area within the MCS department. The core purpose of the MCS Planning Team is to provide world class planning services and support to ASC and broader the Submarine Enterprise. The Planning Team also manages external stakeholder relationships (e.g. Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, Raytheon, THALES etc) in support of Maintenance Activity work package generation, execution and coordination and associated technical information to the wider CCSM Enterprise.  

Based in Henderson, WA, reporting to the Planning Manager, this critical role is a leadership position within the Multi Class Services Planning Team. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and supervise the generation, issue, configuration and maintenance of maintenance task work packs in accordance with business compliance and readiness requirements.

Central to this role is the ability to coach and mentor team members, engage with stakeholders across the business and provide direct support to allocated maintenance activities in order to deliver performance outcomes and continuous improvements in line with business commitments, objectives, plans, processes and routines. This role is responsible for the coordination of allocated resources across projects in an efficient manner, whilst providing supervision, coaching and mentoring to the allocated work group.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work packs including associated documents covering technical issues requiring resolution, report generation, raising/reviewing of MRR Amendment Proposals (MAPs), rescheduling and deferment of MCRs (Maintenance Control Records).
  • Provide technical and process leadership to the Planning Department and Project team members on all issues relating to planning, generation and closeout review (where required) of work packs in accordance with business readiness requirements.
  • Ensure work pack detail is of the required business standards, whilst minimising admin impact to maintenance staff and maintain certification and compliance.
  • Supervision and coordination of Trade Planners to ensure agreed work pack schedules are maintained for Production and Projects in line with safely on time requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders and provide direct support to allocated maintenance activities.
  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring to allocated team members to ensure corporate and departmental processes, routines and behavioural standards are met and executed in a safe, compliant and efficient manner.
  • Support the development of key business reporting improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that all work packs are accurate and reflect requirements of work and steps to be undertaken to conduct work on board consistent with ASC and RAN Policies and routines.
  • Ensure corporate system data integrity and accuracy by users.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) Systems.
  • Trade qualification or equivalent engineering certification in a fabrication or welding discipline, supported by a minimum of seven years’ experience in heavy industrial or marine environments, including exposure to maintenance, planning, scheduling and estimating activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of boilermaking and heavy fabrication practices, including weld procedure standards, NDT requirements, and repair methodologies for metal‑loss defects including structural and pressure‑rated piping systems.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex, technical issues to a range of audiences and individuals.
  • Ability to set priorities and achieve deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
