ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This is an excellent entry‑level opportunity for someone looking to start or build a career in security, administration, or operations within a defence‑adjacent environment.

The Security Administrator role sits at the centre of activity at ASC’s Osborne site. You are the first point of contact for visitors, leaders, and partners, and play a visible role in keeping the site running safely and professionally. It’s a fast‑paced, on‑site position where no two days look the same.

You’ll manage the front desk, coordinate visitors, and support the day‑to‑day operation of site security. You’ll also work closely with Security Guards and local Security Advisors, helping to manage visits, clearances, and compliance in a defence‑adjacent environment. This role offers exposure to complex security processes, including Defence‑approved visits and Foreign National access, with strong learning and development built in.

This position is full‑time on site at Osborne and suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, variety, and being the go‑to person in a high‑trust setting.

Responsibilities

  • Be the welcoming face of ASC, greeting corporate and production visitors and managing site access
  • Coordinate visitor onboarding with internal teams, external partners, and Commonwealth representatives
  • Manage incoming calls, directing queries efficiently and professionally
  • Act as the primary point of contact for on‑site Security Guards, supporting smooth daily operations
  • Support the security team with administration, including clearance checks for classified engagements
  • Learn and manage Defence Security Approved Visit processes, including Foreign National visits
  • Maintain security and admin systems such as SINE, purchase requisitions, and invoice processing
  • Provide trusted administrative support to local Security Advisors

Why this role is a great starting point:

  • On‑the‑job training and support provided
  • Exposure to a highly structured, secure, and professional environment
  • Opportunity to build transferable skills in administration, security, and operations
  • Great foundation for future roles within security, facilities, or corporate services

Skills & Experiences

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and handle a high volume of visitors in a fast‑paced environment
  • Confident engaging with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds, with strong communication and organisational skills
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Experience working with ticketing software (e.g. JIRA), or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in a fast‑paced office environment
  • Strong ability to prioritise work, operate independently, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Proactive in identifying required tasks and taking ownership to see them through

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
