Want to secure an exciting apprenticeship role in the defence industry?

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

Propel yourself into a career with ASC – Australia’s sovereign submarine company.

Our 2027 apprentice intake is currently offering multiple opportunities at our Osborne site in Adelaide across the following streams:

  • Electrical

Develop the technical skills and knowledge in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on naval boats and supporting infrastructure, during the boats’ construction, refit, maintenance and commissioning.

  • Fabrication – Boilermaker/Welder

You will learn to interpret technical drawings and specifications to fabricate, assemble, and install metal components that form the structural framework of vessels. The role will also involve preparing metal surfaces, welding steel plates and structural components, overall contributing to building a vessel to withstand harsh marine environments.

  • Mechanical – Fitter

This hands-on role involves learning to interpret technical drawings and schematics to install, assemble, diagnose faults and maintain mechanical systems and components critical to naval vessel operations.
