About the Opportunity

The Assistant Security Advisor is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and oversight of the day to day operational security activities for ASC SSN AUKUS Build Program Integrated Project Team (IPT) Security team. You will also provide support to the Team Lead and the wider Build IPT security operations team. You’re required to ensure that the business continuously adheres with the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and provides ongoing support to the Team Lead and wider team.

The Assistant Security Advisor provides high level security services in relation to certifications, accreditations, general site and business related security matters. you will work within the SSN AUKUS Build Program IPT Security Operations team on a daily basis but are expected to interact with the wider support team and other departments as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the distribution and prioritisation of requests for security services via the JIRA Security Services Desk in consultation with the Team Lead.
  • Ensure the delivery and implementation of transactional security matters including training and awareness, procedures and practices in coherence with Build IPT and Commonwealth Security requirements.
  • Conduct and maintain records of current and future Build IPT site personnel security activities including clearances, travel, onboarding, induction and training.
  • Provide on-site operational support to internal functions relating to the implementation of general security matters.
  • Manage records and audit of facility security assets (key audits, containers and general maintenance) and producing security access passes.
  • Maintain security governance including data entry into the security register, file naming and data management.
  • Coordinate and maintain incoming and outgoing visit requests.
  • Coordinate and conduct overseas travel briefings and debriefings.
  • Adopt a continuous Improvement approach to the security service desk ensuring that opportunities for improvement are identified, changes are implemented, and users are educated.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you 

  • Professional Qualification in an appropriate field
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience with a minimum 3 years’ experience in a Defence or similar environment with a particular focus on Defence security arrangements and high attention to detail
  • Experience and knowledge in compliance, assurance and governance frameworks
  • In-depth knowledge of Physical, Personnel and Information security in relation to DISP and/or Defence
  • Experience operating security systems, including access control, alarms and security containers in Defence environments
  • Must have or be able to complete the Defence Security Division (DSD) Security Officer Course
  • Ability to effectively communication with all levels of stakeholders

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
