ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As our new Assurance Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of ASC’s engineering assurance efforts, ensuring our submarine programs meet the highest standard of safety, compliance, and performance. Reporting to the Assurance Manager, you’ll lead assurance activities across multiple sites, provide expert oversight at technical councils, and guide the development of robust assurance frameworks.

Your work will directly influence ASC’s strategic outcomes by identifying risks, verifying compliance, and driving continuous improvement across engineering functions.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to technical councils, providing expert input and oversight on engineering decisions.

  • Support the development and execution of assurance frameworks, processes, and documentation.

  • Monitor compliance with engineering standards, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies to enhance safety and performance.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistent application of assurance practices across the business.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process and system enhancements.

About you

  • Tertiary qualified in Engineering or possess equivalent industry experience.

  • 7+ years’ experience in engineering roles within high-risk, regulated environments.

  • Skilled in conducting technical assessments and communicating findings clearly.

  • Experienced in applying regulatory frameworks and standards in complex settings.

  • Confident in stakeholder engagement and contributing to technical decision-making forums.

  • Clear and effective communicator of technical information, both written and verbal.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
