ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This is not a standard accounting role.

At ASC, Treasury sits at the centre of a complex, high-value environment supporting one of Australia's most significant defence programs. You'll play a key role in managing cash, investments, banking relationships and treasury operations across the group, helping keep critical projects moving.

As the second-in-command within Treasury, you'll combine technical expertise, commercial thinking and leadership capability. One day you'll be preparing cash flow analysis including foreign currencies across group entities in three countries, and evaluation investment options. The next, you'll be strengthening treasury controls, supporting system enhancements, and working closely with banking partners to keep a complex treasury function running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing day-to-day treasury operations across the ASC Group, including banking and card reconciliations
  • Reviewing work undertaken by junior Treasury team members
  • Preparing cash flow reporting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Supporting investment decision-making and working capital management
  • Building strong relationships with banking partners and key stakeholders
  • Driving governance, compliance and treasury controls
  • Supporting treasury system enhancements and digital transformation initiatives
  • Coaching and developing team capability through knowledge sharing and mentorship

About you

You'll bring a strong treasury, corporate finance or financial accounting background and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, initiative and commercial judgement matter.

You'll also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline
  • Full membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, or an equivalent professional accounting body
  • Significant post-membership accounting or treasury experience
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting requirements
  • Advanced financial analysis and reporting capability
  • Experience developing and mentoring junior team members
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • The ability to build trusted relationships across a broad stakeholder group
  • Excellent communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
