About the Opportunity

ASC is seeking a passionate and strategic Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Specialist to join our team in Osborne, SA. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to Australia’s sovereign defence capability by supporting the implementation of ASC’s AIC Strategy across key submarine sustainment programs, including Collins Class Sustainment, Life of Type Extension, and Multi-class Sustainment.

Reporting to the AIC Manager, the AIC Specialist will engage with suppliers and industry stakeholders to identify and enhance Australian Industry Capability opportunities, ensure compliance with government policy and contractual requirements, and advocate for ASC’s strategic interests. You’ll work collaboratively across internal teams and external networks to deliver impactful outcomes in a complex and dynamic environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong supply chain experience, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a deep understanding of the Australian Defence Industry.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with industry stakeholders to build and maintain strategic relationships that support AIC objectives
  • Represent ASC at industry events and forums to promote Australian Industry Capability and strengthen external partnerships
  • Conduct supply chain analysis to identify opportunities for increased Australian industry participation
  • Support the development and execution of AIC strategies and plans across submarine sustainment programs
  • Coordinate and evaluate supplier AIC proposals, ensuring alignment with contractual and policy requirements
  • Monitor supplier AIC plan execution post-contract award to ensure compliance and performance
  • Ensure adherence to government AIC policies, contractual obligations, and ASC’s governance frameworks
  • Advocate for ASC’s interests in policy discussions and industry forums to influence AIC outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to AIC processes and supply chain development

About you

To be considered for this permanent full-time opportunity it is imperative that you display expertise across the following key areas:

  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, supply chain, contract management or a related field (highly desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply chain, industry engagement, or a related business function.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian defence industry and AIC-related government policies.
  • Proven ability to deliver strategic and contractual outcomes in complex environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to influence and build credibility with external and government stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
  • Commercial acumen and knowledge of enterprise risk management.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in supply chain and AIC practices.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
