ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. About the Opportunity

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. The Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Specialist will ensure ASC maximizes Australian industry participation in its submarine programs and supports sovereign capability for the SSN AUKUS submarines. Responsibilities include developing and updating ASC’s Sovereign Supply Chain Development Plan, identifying industry capability needs, supporting AIC plans, and providing industry intelligence for strategy and decision-making. This role enhances Australia's submarine supply chain in line with sovereign capability priorities.


Responsibilities
 

  • Support the development and execution of ASC’s Sovereign Supply Chain Development Plan. 
  • Review and update the plan to align with government policies and ASC business requirements. 
  • Provide advice on AIC and sovereign supply chain development. 
  • Collaborate with program leads to identify and develop AIC requirements for specific programs. 
  • Communicate program AIC requirements to suppliers and evaluate AIC proposals. 
  • Develop Australian industry capability intelligence to identify gaps and inform strategy. 
  • Engage with SMEs and indigenous-owned businesses to maximize participation in ASC’s supply chain. 


About you 

  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, supply chain, or a related field 
  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant business experience 
  • Knowledge of the Australian defence industry, including government policies and initiatives with experience in strategic business planning and program management  
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and customer relations skills.  
  • Strong analytical, financial, commercial, and communication skills 
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer requirements 
  • Ability to establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships 
  • Experience in risk management 


Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.  

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
