About the Opportunity

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. Reporting to the Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Manager, the AIC Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the SSN-AUKUS AIC Strategy and Plan and reporting framework. This involves collaborating with internal team members as well as members of the Nuclear Capability Officer (NCO), Joint Partners, and the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) as required to meet contract requirements and maximise Australian industry participation in the SSN-AUKUS program. 

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the SSN-AUKUS AIC Strategy and Plan, including the reporting framework.
  • Collaborate with internal team members, Nuclear Capability Officer (NCO), Joint Partners, and the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) to meet contract requirements and maximise Australian industry participation.
  • Engage with key suppliers to enhance Australian capability within the supply chain, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, AIC government policy, and other frameworks.
  • Support delivery of business processes through proactive engagement with stakeholders to maintain ASC's position as the sovereign builder and sustainer of submarine platforms.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the SSN-AUKUS AIC Strategy and Plan are understood and applied in day-to-day operations.
  • Undertake related supply chain projects to support sovereign capability.
  • Adapt to changes in the role aligned with the maturity of partnership arrangements with BAE Systems.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK time zone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, supply chain, contract management or a related field. 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Supply Chain role or relevant business experience 
  • Knowledge of the Australian defence industry landscape, including government policies and initiatives relating to AIC 
  • Experience in delivering of AIC artefacts and outcomes within the ASDEFCON contracting framework
  • Ability to build credibility and influence external stakeholders from a cross-cultural background.  
  • Experience within a maritime design, build and sustainment process is desirable    
  • Sound analytical skills with experience in reporting and strong commercial acumen 
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management 
  • Ability to work within uncertainty and a changing strategic environment

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
