About the Opportunity

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. Reporting to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain Capability, the Build Operations and Supply Chain Lead is responsible for supporting to ensure the right people with the right skills and systems are developed and deployed to deliver on the Build program work scopes (including the management of a constrained workforce) for Operations and Supply Chain Capability functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Resource Planners, Workforce Planners, and P&C Strategy to identify resource shortfalls in Operations and Supply Chain capabilities across short, medium, and long-term timeframes.
  • Partner with Recruitment, Learning and Development, and Talent Partnering departments to develop and implement strategies to address identified resource shortfalls.
  • Support the development of ASC’s Operations and Supply Chain workforce capabilities to meet the needs of the Build programs.
  • Provide leadership to the Operations and Supply Chain Capability Department, ensuring team members have clear direction and challenging yet attainable performance targets.
  • Contribute to building the overall capability of ASC’s workforce to effectively resource the Build programs.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you 

  • Qualifications and/or suitable equivalent experience relevant to operations or supply chain management supplemented with qualifications in a management discipline.
  • Membership of CIPS/ASCM or a recognised trade development organisation (eg. Weld Australia) ideally with professional practice certification (MCIPS, AWE etc).
  • Experience in a leadership role in operations, supply chain, project management or capability leadership role (or similar), preferably in a similar industry
  • Proven ability to deliver on a capability development program that aligns with business strategy
  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding / defence sector, including knowledge of current trends, practices, technologies, and regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability in prioritisation of limited resources and make effective trade-off decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement interventions and high-quality solutions to complex problems

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
