About the Opportunity

The Fixed Equipment Engineering Manager – SCY (Submarine Construction Yard), will lead the identification, specification, and procurement support for all major manufacturing equipment for the new Nuclear Powered Submarine Construction Yard in Osbourne. Managing a team of equipment engineers, this role oversees detailed equipment specifications, Statements of Work, safety assessments, and compliance with Australian standards. Working closely with ANI, ASC, and BAE partners, the manager ensures equipment is selected, qualified, and delivered in line with design schedules and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to define and deliver fixed equipment requirements for the SCY.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to equipment specialists, ensuring high‑quality specifications, configuration management and compliance.
  • Develop and manage equipment artefacts including performance specifications, Statements of Work, drawings, training plans and assurance documentation.
  • Oversee equipment assurance activities such as design reviews, FAT, SAT, qualification, training and final acceptance to ensure safety, compliance and fit‑for‑purpose outcomes.
  • Coordinate equipment delivery within cost, schedule and capability constraints, ensuring alignment with Program objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships through effective communication, workshop participation, supplier engagement and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure equipment meets safety, security, ICT, operational and Australian regulatory requirements, including risk assessments and SOP/maintenance integration.
  • Provide regular reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including PMO, on equipment progress, risks, assurance outcomes and compliance status.

About you

  • 10+ years’ experience working with industrial manufacturing equipment, experience within the Defence Shipbuilding Industry will be highly regarded.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and managing equipment procurement, design, manufacturing, installation and/or commissioning activities.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering and requirements management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and make informed, balanced decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time‑management capability, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and proven ability to mentor and guide engineering and technical personnel.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1). Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
