About the Opportunity

To be successful in the role you will have a strong background in developing strategic plans within complex multi-tiered organisations and proven experience in executing the plans to fruition.  Reporting to the General Manager Business Performance, you will be accountable for Strategic Planning and Business Performance Projects within the Multi-Class Sustainment (MCS) Business Performance team.

Working with the MCS leadership team and the broader ASC business, this role is required to maintain a strategic perspective of the entire business and have accountability for special projects relating to MCS Business Performance. You will also be responsible for the development of reporting and measures to ensure the achievement of the strategic objectives and plans.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the MCS Strategy and associated strategic plans, ensuring its alignment to overall business strategy. Includes supporting the programs in the development of their strategic plans.
  • Collaborate across the broader ASC business to ensure the capability, transformation and support activities are clearly mapped into the strategic plans.
  • Establish a set of Business Performance Metrics, benchmarked against industry best practice for the sustainment value stream and represented in a Multi-Class Sustainment (MCS) Performance Scorecard.
  • Report and measure the achievement of the strategic objectives and plans.
  • Oversee the delivery of allocated MCS Improvement Projects and measure and Report MSC’s performance.
  • Proactively identify processes, frameworks and ways of working within the department that would benefit from improvements and recommend the appropriate action.
  • Set clear and consistent guardrails where employees understand the organisations expectations regarding values and standards.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering or Business Management.
  • Proven 10 years or greater experience in management of medium to high complexity projects.
  • Experience in the Defence Maritime Domain – highly regarded.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams. 
  • A deep understanding of Business Management and Governance Practices.
  • High level of understanding of the Product Lifecycle including the Sustainment end to end process.

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex challenges, think strategically and develop effective solutions.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
