About the Opportunity 

The IT Manager, Mobilisation is responsible for overseeing the deployment and integration of information and communication technology systems for the establishment of the Australian Shipbuilder (joint venture between ASC and BAE), that will eventually build Australia’s Sub Sustainment Nuclear (SSN) AUKUS submarines. This role ensures that all IT infrastructure, applications, and services are effectively mobilised to support operational requirements, working closely with various departments to align technology solutions with business needs. 

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. The IT Manager, Mobilisation will manage and maintain IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with existing operations. 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage projects as directed by Program Office and provide Project Management Methodology consultancy to the IT team based on Lean, Agile, and systems thinking methodologies. 
  • Understand, communicate, and plan for project requirements, constraints, and governance mechanisms. 
  • Oversee the deployment of IT systems and infrastructure; ensure seamless integration with existing operations. 
  • Ensure all IT systems comply with security and regulatory standards; conduct regular security audits. 
  • Lead and mentor the IT team; provide training and development opportunities. 
  • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders; manage stakeholder expectations, understand and deconflict issues. 
  • Work with partner project managers and IT professionals to integrate efforts. 

About You 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CISSP are preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT management, with a focus on large-scale mobilisation projects. 
  • Demonstrated experience in IT programs and projects for joint ventures and/or mergers and acquisitions is highly desirable. 
  • Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and security systems. 
  • Proven experience in managing IT projects within the defence industry or similar high-security environments. 
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile project planning and execution (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean Principles, Scaled Agile). 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills. 
  • Strong communication (written & verbal). 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. 
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software. 

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. 

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
