About the Opportunity

Based in Western Australia, the role is accountable for the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of Learning and Development (L&D) initiatives to increase capability, drive high performance and improve culture across the business. It provides leadership and guidance to a small team of L&D Specialists and Advisors, ensuring alignment of priorities and delivery of high-quality outcomes. The position requires regular engagement with senior internal stakeholders and external partners, including Defence representatives, to influence decisions and ensure alignment with strategic objectives. This includes conducting training needs analysis, competency analysis, designing fit-for-purpose solutions and leading complex projects from inception through to delivery, coordinating and facilitating learning programs.

The position is required to maintain strong working relationship with the wider Multi-Class Sustainment (MCS) team, People & Culture (P&C) Department and L&D Teams to ensure ongoing operational support of L&D Department while consistently demonstrating positive behaviours in line with the organisational values and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by developing, sharing and implementing new processes and procedures to support the effective execution of the SSN Sustainment (SSNS) Program.

Responsible for supporting business leaders, particularly the Transfer of Technology (ToT) Teams, in delivering timely, compliant and cost-effective Learning and Development solutions and advice to meet operational objectives.

Informs and influences the broader ASC P&C team to enable an effective delivery of L&D Services to the business.

Responsibilities

Support L&D initiatives, with a focus on employee development and the implementation of key projects such as:

  • Provide oversight and direction to L&D Specialists and Advisors, fostering collaboration and capability development within the team.
  • Lead project governance activities, including reporting to senior leadership and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with high-ranking internal and external stakeholders to support knowledge transfer and program success.
  • Transition of international training packages in line with defence export training control requirements.
  • Develop Australian based training solutions and associated competency management processes to meet international training outcomes.
  • Coaching and mentoring programs.
  • Induction and onboarding programs.
  • Safety and Compliance Programs.
  • Technical and discipline specific programs.


About You

  • Vocational or Tertiary Qualification in HR, Learning and Development, Adult Education, or equivalent related work experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in in a similar role working across a multi-site multi-disciplined business, ideally with multi-national aspects.
  • Previous experience in managing L&D projects from inception to completion and continuous improvement.
  • Proven understanding of contemporary and modern Learning Solutions.
  • Good understanding of L&D Systems and interfaces.
  • Sound understanding of export controls and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information related to learning and development and transfer of knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring L&D professionals.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing and negotiating with senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple dependencies and deliverables.

 
Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
