About the Opportunity

To contribute to the goals of the Collins Class Submarine, ASC Logistics Engineering has a new opportunity for a Technical Officer (up to senior level), to join the team to resolve obsolescence on the asset.  Located in Osborne, SA, this unique opportunity will allow you to utilise your skills and expertise in an environment that will directly contribute to the sustainment of Australia’s frontline naval capabilities.

We are looking for individuals with drive and passion, with a practical and pragmatic thinking ability to resolve obsolescence issues through logistics solutions or using ASCs proven engineering change management processes.  To achieve this, we require your engineering/trade/supply chain expertise to: identify opportunities for equivalent/alternate parts, bridge buys and life of type buys as well as engineering projects.

Your experience and expertise will shape ASC’s future maintenance, warehousing and sparing requirements, all in an effort to drive supportability and sustainability gains into our business.

The team will draw upon your initiative and creativity in coming up with solutions to challenges in maintaining the technical seaworthiness of the platforms. ASC Logistics Engineering values your input into our overall capability growth journey.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new or alternative solutions to obsolete or obsolescent submarine parts.
  • Develop supportability plans to ensure submarine system availability.
  • Manage required follow up actions from developed solutions or plans through applicable company processes.
  • Input into the initiation of engineering projects to resolve part obsolescence including problem definition, risk and possible solutions.
  • Input into design project requirement processes to address obsolescence in systems.
  • Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders on issues related to assigned work.
  • Focus on developing and leading continuous improvement activities within your team.

About you

  • Experience in solving engineering and logistics problems on equipment, plant or assets.
  • Strong ability to work through complicated problems in a logical and ordered fashion.
  • An understanding of project management scope, schedule, cost and risk.
  • Experience in the interpretation of drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to gather, manipulate and analyse data to provide insight.
  • The ability to effectively work in a team.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • A minimum Trade Qualification, or higher (Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, Reliability, Logistics, etc.) or an equivalent Graduate Diploma (Maintenance & Reliability Engineering) with appropriate industry experience.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
