About the Opportunity

The MTL Blast and Paint oversees the correct scheduling of the production and subcontract tasks within the individual ASC CCSM blast and paint maintenance projects, providing a safe environment, ensuring de-confliction of tasks and adherence to procedures.

 

Responsibilities

The MTL Blast and Paint will provide both technical and project support to boat teams during planning and execution phases to ensure continuous improvement and consistency across all boat/Project Teams. This role will also help to ensure the lessons learnt from each project are captured and implemented. Some of the duties will include:

 

  • Blast and Paint work pack vetting
  • Manage paint and NDT, Metal Loss Surveys
  • Day to day running of tanks as directed by the Boat Manager
  • ASC supervision of on-site NDT
  • Planning and allocating various maintenance activity tasks
  • Ensuring a positive morale and safe working culture within contractor groups
  • Coordination of operations and contract labor in accordance with schedules (SPOD & SPOW)
  • Validating progress reporting on behalf of Contractors
  • Capacity and skills monitoring
  • A sound understanding of workforce conditions of employment, payroll and training requirements to effectively manage Contractors
  • Working closely with a range of internal stakeholders to ensure operations run seamlessly
  • Conduct Safety CCO & CCV
  • ADHOC NACE inspection and reports reviews
  • Apply FTD2 Delegation in Blast and paint

 

Provide solutions to obstacles that present with respect to meeting the schedule, as identified in SOT Stoppages. Following this, the MTL Blast and Paint is to coordinate the development and execution of recovery actions. Provide advice and assistance to Boat Superintendents, Boat IC and MTL’s in understanding and executing higher risk work activities.

This position will provide support, advice and recommendations in training, coaching and mentoring to leaders within the Maintenance Department and both internal and external business improvement opportunities.

 

About you 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Collins Class Submarine systems and CCSM Business knowledge blast and paint
  • Full understanding of Higher Risk Work processes
  • Schedule understanding and history of fostering practices that enhance adherence
  • ASC corporate databases
  • Intermediate computing skills (working knowledge of MS office applications)

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trade Certificate or Blast and Paint qualification
  • Level 2 Hot Work Training (MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an Issued Permit Hot Works)
  • Confined Space Supervisor Course
  • NACE Level 2 is desirable
  • AICIP qualified is desirable
  • LMS - ChemAlert training

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
