About the Opportunity  

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. Multiple positions available at various seniority level for experienced Manufacturing Engineer to be an integral part of the Production Engineering Department, focusing on the construction and maintenance of advanced defence submarines. These roles involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and effective production of submarines, adhering to stringent quality and safety standards.    

Responsibilities  

  • Develop and implement detailed production plans, schedules, and workflows for submarine construction and maintenance 
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of activities 
  • Provide technical support to production teams, addressing any engineering challenges or issues that arise during manufacturing 
  • Develop and implement solutions to technical problems 
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of production processes, changes, and improvements 
  • Prepare regular reports on production performance, issues, and resolutions 

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.  

About you   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or a related field 
  • Prior experience delivering large, complex manufacturing projects, ideally within the defence industry 
  • High level of integrity and resilience 
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues both verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Strong continuous improvement advocate via project lessons learned 

Eligibility  

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. 

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
