About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Nuclear Infrastructure Specialist to join our Infrastructure team based in Adelaide, South Australia, supporting the AUKUS Build program. Reporting to the Head of SCY Infrastructure, this role will lead ASC’s integration of nuclear safety, security and safeguards requirements as part of the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY). The Nuclear Infrastructure Specialist will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and key delivery partners to ensure nuclear requirements are clearly defined, managed and embedded within infrastructure and equipment designs. The role will act as ASC’s representative across nuclear infrastructure forums, provide assurance through objective quality evidence, and play a critical role in enabling a compliant, licensable and fit‑for‑purpose construction yard for future nuclear‑powered submarine construction activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead ASC’s interests in the management and integration of Safety, Security and Safeguards Functional Requirements as part of the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard.
• Liaise with internal and external Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel to ensure nuclear regulatory requirements are documented, understood and applied across the Infrastructure team.
• Provide assurance that infrastructure and equipment design and construction activities comply with nuclear regulatory, licensing and program requirements, supported by objective quality evidence.
• Coordinate and manage engagement with key stakeholders including Australian Naval Infrastructure, the Australian Submarine Agency, regulators and shipbuilder partners.
• Represent ASC in internal and external nuclear safety forums, committees and reviews, contributing to decision making and approvals.
• Support infrastructure nuclear capability uplift through mentoring, knowledge sharing and contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

• Degree qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience delivering complex technical projects within nuclear, Defence or heavy industrial environments.
• Demonstrated experience integrating regulatory and technical requirements into infrastructure or industrial project delivery.
• Strong working knowledge of systems engineering and requirements management principles.
• Proven ability to manage ambiguity, engage across multiple stakeholders and represent an organisation in complex delivery environments.
• Highly developed communication, planning and organisational skills, with a collaborative and outward‑facing approach.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1). Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
