About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Nuclear Readiness, there are Nuclear Safety Engineering opportunities available for individuals with proven experience in Safety Engineering. Successful candidates will be tasked with making system safety technical decisions that are safe, practical, and suitable for implementation on the respective platform, working autonomously with minimal supervision.

These roles are a permanent, full-time positions based at Osborne, SA or Henderson, WA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform system safety engineering tasks of a technically challenging nature which demonstrate knowledge of system safety engineering fundamentals
  • Prepare and review system safety engineering documentation such as System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Analysis Reports, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Logs, Hazardous Material Registers and Safety Case Reports in accordance with program milestones
  • Perform system safety analysis tasks in accordance with Australian WHS legislation aligned to the program system safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel within the team, leading key initiatives that drive a system safety culture.

 

 About you

  • Bachelor of Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Related industry experience in system safety programs
  • Prior experience with system safety tools is desirable, DOORS, BOWTIE XP, Assurance and Safety Case Environment software
  • Awareness of System Safety programs and associated tasks and techniques
  • A “can do” and continuous improvement attitude
  • Nuclear Engineering background is desirable.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
