ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This role offers a rare opportunity to contribute to the establishment of the Australian Shipbuilder, a new joint venture between ASC and BAE that will build Australia’s future SSN‑AUKUS submarines. As the Organisational Development Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the design and delivery of organisational development initiatives that underpin a future‑ready submarine workforce. Working within the Workforce IPT, you will contribute to capability, leadership, culture and organisational design for one of Australia’s most significant national programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of organisational development frameworks supporting the SSN‑AUKUS Build Program.
  • Contribute to the development of organisational design for the Integrated Joint Venture, including nuclear baseline and organisational change readiness frameworks.
  • Provide project coordination and administrative support for establishing the IJV People & Culture function.
  • Assist in developing and delivering leadership capability frameworks and programs, aligned with AUKUS partner principles to support future‑focused leadership pipelines.
  • Support cultural integration activities and “One Team” ways‑of‑working initiatives across ASC, BAE, and government partners.
  • Assist in the integration and administration of OD systems and tools (e.g., Workday, PageUp, SuccessFactors), ensuring alignment with workforce planning and L&D strategies.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to organisational development initiatives or programs.
  • Working knowledge of performance management, succession planning, leadership development and capability frameworks.
  • Familiarity with OD and HR systems such as Workday, PageUp, or SuccessFactors.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in complex environments.
  • Experience in defence, large‑scale government programs, or major infrastructure environments (desirable).

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

  • Flexibility over how, when and where you work for the best work/life balance.
  • Up to 10 days additional leave every year so you can rest and recharge.
  • Generous parental leave so you can give your family the focus it deserves.
  • Subsidised childcare to ease the financial pressure on your family.
