About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as a Financial Governance Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will drive, influence, design, and implement continuous improvement financial governance frameworks, processes, and internal controls. You will play a crucial role in knowledge transfer and capability building across the corporate functions of our organization, ensuring excellence in governance across all aspects. Reporting to the Head of Finance – Corporate, you will collaborate closely with various Business Groups and key stakeholders to uphold and enhance our governance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Periodically validate and evaluate processes and internal controls, sharing findings with stakeholders.
  • Lead Business Improvement Requests and delivery of audit recommendations that drive continuous improvement of financial governance, processes, and internal controls.
  • Engage with Finance and IT to drive long-term system solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Support corporate stakeholders through audits, providing guidance and issue resolution.
  • Design and support the delivery of changes in finance processes, leveraging corporate governance software and technology.
  • Transfer knowledge and provide training to ensure excellence in governance.
  • Project manage new and changing workflows, establishing appropriate administration and data management.
  • Articulate effective business cases for governance investments.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Internal Audit, Business, or related field.
  • Previous experience in roles focused on audit, governance, processes, and internal controls.
  • Ability to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Level NV1).
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing best practice policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working across finance, supply chain, human resources, IT, and operational teams.
  • Excellent written skills, with experience producing deliverables and reports for various audiences.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage sensitive information, and exercise sound judgment.
  • High level of administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other process, workflow, and internal controls software.

 

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
