About the Opportunity:

Reporting to the Head of Procurement - LOTE, the Procurement Manager is accountable and responsible for managing the team that is supporting the development, delivery, and implementation of Life of Type Extension (LOTE) Procurement in a Defence Acquisition environment.

The position will lead the team that will be required to establish, implement, and manage procurement and supply chain strategies, as well as negotiate and manage strategic contracts pertinent to the COLLINS Class LOTE Program. In doing so, the Procurement Manager will build and manage internal and external relationships to deliver to program requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement, and manage procurement strategies and plans—including project, category, and sourcing strategies—that deliver value for money and manage risk acceptable to ASC.
  • Ensure procurement activity is undertaken in an ethical, efficient and effective manner that complies with Australian law and good practice.
  • Negotiate and manage strategic contracts.
  • Build and manage internal and external relationships.
  • Develop supplier relationship arrangements that benefit the Submarine Program and Industry.
  • Manage procurement risk.
  • Manage, mentor and develop Supply Chain personnel.

 

About You: 

  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in a relevant Supply Chain role in a relevant industry.
  • Experience in major defence contracts in a contractual and commercial capacity.
  • Practical proven experience in major project contract establishment and management including contract negotiations & contract law.
  • Possesses highly developed applied project management skills to manage procurement projects to agreed timelines and budget restraints.
  • Has an expert working knowledge of applicable law relating to procurement framework e.g. insurance, legal process, intellectual property and warranties.
  • Has an excellent knowledge of procurement tools such as e-tendering and contract management systems.
  • Supports senior management in developing overall procurement strategy and procurement objectives, monitoring plans and objectives to track results.
  • Able to direct and manage senior personnel (internal and external) effectively.
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, supply chain or related are desirable.

 

Eligibility:

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
