About the Opportunity

Join a dynamic and growing team supporting the AUKUS Build Program as a Security Advisor – Security Operations. In this pivotal role, you’ll help implement and maintain robust security arrangements aligned with Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and Nuclear Propulsion Submarine Safety Regulator (NPSSR) requirements. You’ll contribute to the development of a strong security culture and ensure compliance across a high-profile national defence initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective security services and implement operational security measures across the program.
  • Provide expert advice on protective security matters within the Defence Industry environment.
  • Prepare and deliver security training and awareness sessions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing management of security systems and guarding contracts.
  • Develop and maintain security culture, policies and procedures.
  • Undertake fact-finding activities and report on security incidents in accordance with Defence timeframes.
  • Coordinate with external security agencies on personnel and program-related matters.
  • Support governance and assurance, personnel security & cyber security activities aligned with Defence Security Principal Framework and Defence Industry Security Program requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct Facility Physical Security Accreditation activities and associated Risk Assessments.

About You

  • Eligible for AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 2 and able to meet ITAR and ASA security requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Defence or similar environments, with a focus on operational/physical security.
  • Must have or be able to complete the Defence Industry Security Program Security Officer Course.
  • Strong understanding of Defence security frameworks including Defence Security Principal Framework, Defence Industry Security Program and Protective Security Policy Framework.
  • Strong understanding of ASIO Technical Notes 1/15 and the Information Security Manual.
  • Skilled in communicating complex security issues clearly and effectively.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • High level of integrity, resilience, and motivation to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Able to complete the DISP Security Officer Course and contribute to a strong security culture.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV2 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
