About the Opportunity

The Project Coordinator supports the Head of Learning and Development by managing and delivering key project activities across all phases of the project lifecycle. This role involves coordinating major workforce development initiatives with complex stakeholder and regulatory requirements, as well as overseeing smaller planning and training projects within the broader Workforce Capability Development team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Project Coordinator may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in developing project plans that align with safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness goals.
  • Liaise daily with key stakeholders including L&D managers, specialists, SMEs, and senior leadership.
  • Support the creation and delivery of scopes of work and project packages within agreed timelines.
  • Contribute to risk identification and management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare reports, coordinate project reviews, and maintain project performance metrics.
  • Monitor project progress, analyse variances, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain project management systems to ensure governance, compliance, and reporting accuracy.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support best practices in project management across teams.

About you 

  • Tertiary or Vocational qualifications in a technical or project management discipline or equivalent experience in a professional or L&D environment.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a similar project environment. Preferably in the Defence industry or similar industry.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of Scheduling, Project Management Methodologies, financial, stakeholder, contractor/consultant and personnel management as applicable to a complex project environment.
  • Experience and proficiency in relevant project management applications, such as MS Project, Jira, SharePoint, MS Excel.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong planning, organisation, and multitasking skills with resilience, sound judgment, and a proactive, goal-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build effective relationships, work collaboratively in teams, and deliver customer-focused outcomes.
  • Desirable: Diploma or higher qualifications in Project Management, Membership of the AIPM or equivalent

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
