About the Opportunity

This newly created role within the Submarine Sustainment Nuclear (SSN) department the Project Manager - Facilities & Infrastructure is responsible for delivering comprehensive project management plans and supporting activities across all phases of the project lifecycle. This includes oversight of project scope, budget, quality, and schedule.

The successful delivery of new and refurbished, fit-for-purpose SSN sustainment and training facilities will rely heavily on this role. Operating in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, the Project Manager will need to demonstrate strong adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities and evolving requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of all processes for the successful delivery the facility & infrastructure project requirements.
  • Developing the necessary documents and overseeing the successful implementation of processes in accordance with published plans and documentation.
  • Tracking and monitoring progress for aspects of the facilities & infrastructure development.
  • Contributing to schedule development and management within the SSN Sustainment Program Team.
  • Monitoring and reporting costs against internal budgets at regular intervals.
  • Compiling management reports for the GM Program Delivery.
  • Contributing to the strategic planning within the SSN Sustainment Program Team with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicating and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders around facilities & infrastructure activities.
  • Contributing to commercial bids and offers (as required) for facilities & infrastructure related activities.
  • Work closely with the ASC Head of Infrastructure Planning for all facilities and infrastructure lines of effort supporting SSN Sustainment Program.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a technical or Project Management discipline or equivalent experience in a systems engineering, naval construction or complex asset management / development environment.
  • Professional certifications/memberships in Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).
  • 7+ years’ experience in a complex project environment, delivering technical projects within industrial manufacturing, defence (shipbuilding) or construction industry will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in project management Infrastructure Design and installation work will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project strategy creation and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and ‘requirements management’ principles.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
