About the Opportunity

Due to continuous growth, ASC are seeking multiple experienced Project Management professionals to join our team across various submarine sustainment, LOTE and capability programs. Successful candidates will initially be assigned to one of the programs listed below, with future deployment aligned to organisational priorities and program needs.

ASC’s Sustainment Delivery team manage multiple concurrent projects for the Collins Class Submarine Maintenance Program. You’ll oversee planning, execution, and closeout of major and minor sustainment and capability upgrade projects.

ASC’s LOTE (Life of Type Extension) team are based in Osborne, SA. Responsible for delivering detailed project management and support activities required during all phases of the project lifecycle. Roles are across various areas, such as Engineering Design, Implementation Planning and Support System Implementation.

ASC’s PM Capability Development team focuses on uplifting Project Management capability at ASC. This includes developing and improving PM people capabilities, processes, culture, systems, and technology to support consistent and scalable project delivery across ASC.

 

The Project Manager is accountable to the Senior Project Manager for delivering detailed project management activities required during all phases of the project lifecycle and the supervision and coordination of assigned Assistant Project Managers, Project Coordinators & Project Administrators and indirect reports.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Project Manager may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Lead end‑to‑end project delivery including initiation, planning, execution and close‑out, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, cost and quality baselines.
  • Drive strong safety leadership by setting clear expectations and modelling safe behaviours across all project activities.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional inputs and maintain effective relationships with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, PMO, Finance and other key stakeholders.
  • Conduct proactive project risk and opportunity reviews, implementing mitigation and realisation strategies to support successful outcomes.
  • Prepare and deliver high‑quality project reporting, including weekly, monthly and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Manage financial performance as Control Account Manager (CAM), ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Lead and support project team members through effective supervision, mentoring and fostering a high‑performance project culture.
  • Actively contribute to ASC’s continued development and maintenance of a Submarine Safety Culture.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management or related discipline, with 7+ years’ experience in complex project environments.
  • Strong practical capability across scheduling, earned value management, financial oversight and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of developing and leading high‑performing teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and exercise sound judgement.
  • Experience within asset management or maintenance environments; AIPM membership highly regarded.
  • Comfortable operating within a matrix organisation and building strong internal and external relationships.
  • Highly resilient, safety‑focused and committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
